The DNA ConneXions® Propensity Test identifies 19 of the most common bacterial species involved in chronic conditions. This test not only identifies species involved in periodontal diseases, but also those microbes which have been implicated in the progression of a variety of chronic, systemic conditions. These disorders include various cancers; such as colorectal, pancreatic, prostate, and breast cancer, and other diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cognitive disorders, respiratory issues, and complications relating to pregnancy.

DNA ConneXions® utilizes the molecular technique of PCR to identify opportunistic and pathogenic microbial DNA in oral samples.

Periodontal diseases are silent and chronic inflammatory infections of the oral cavity. These infections can be symptomatic or asymptomatic and can affect the structures around the teeth, including the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone structures.  The bacterial species involved in periodontal diseases are often detected in conjunction with one another within the periodontal pockets. These bacterial species work synergistically to destroy periodontal tissue. These microbes may ultimately spread to a systemic level, that can contribute to non-oral diseases throughout the body.

The microbes selected for the DNA ConneXions® Propensity Test include those pathogens which research shows are possible biological indicators involved in the progression of non-oral diseases.  The presence of these opportunistic pathogens have been demonstrated in various conditions and can likely be of diagnostic value in an individual’s susceptibility of systemic diseases.

Sampling Method: Super Floss

The DNA ConneXions® Lyme Disease Test identifies four different genes that are found in Borrelia burgdorferi, the most common cause of Lyme disease in the United States, and ten common Lyme disease vector born co-infectors and other organisms including Borrelia recurrentis, Borrelia miyamotoi, Babesia microti, Babesia divergens, Babesia duncani, Bartonella bacilliformis, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, Bartonella henselae, Bartonella quintana, and Anaplasma phagocytophilum.

Positive detection of Lyme co-infectors indicates likely infection with the Lyme spirochete as well.

A positive PCR result from the DNA ConneXions® Lyme Disease Test indicates the presence of DNA from B. burgdorferi and/or other co-infectors. A negative result does not prove a patient is not infected with a tick-borne infection, rather it indicates the absence of detectable Lyme and/or other tick borne co-infections. A patient’s ability to fight the disease, stage of infection, and timing of courses of antibiotics are only some of the factors that may affect the detectability of the spirochetes DNA.

The DNA ConneXions® Lyme Disease Test detects the causative agent of Lyme Disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, in addition to 10 other common vector borne pathogens.

This test requires a urine sample. Learn more about our Lyme Disease Test  and watch our instructional collection sample video here.

What sets DNA ConneXions® Lyme Disease test apart from the other tests on the market?

The DNA ConneXions® assay is a direct testing method designed to detect the DNA of the causative organism(s) itself. Conversely, an immunological based assay is an indirect testing method designed to detect antibodies produced in response to the infection.

Our direct testing method is not dependent on the stage of infection or the patient’s immunological response.

What does this mean? Let’s use this example: Let’s say you had chicken pox as a child. Your body fought the infection and produced antibodies that you still carry around today.  Therefore, if you were tested for those antibodies today, you would test positive even though you don’t have chicken pox currently.

Antibody testing only tells us that at some point you were exposed and our body mounted an immunological response. An antibody test DOES NOT tell you if the infection is active, where the DNA ConneXions® Lyme Panel DOES.

A NOTE ABOUT COMBINATION TESTING
The two samples must be returned together in order to receive the discounted price. The recipient will receive one LabPak with the two kits inside; this kit will be numbered and tracked by our lab.  Returned samples will not be accepted if not received together.  Combo kits will be sent out with a one-day return shipping label.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO ISSUE A REFUND ON PURCHASED TESTS

Important Note Regarding All Tests: In order to return valid test results, it’s critical that directions are followed exactly as they are provided. Failure to do so may yield inaccurate results and a new test will have to be completed. Please be advised that the cost of a new test kit is $50. If you have questions about specimen collection on any of our tests, please visit our FAQ page, or contact us directly: 1-888-843-5832. Thank you!

Add Rush Processing $99

Rush processing is only for the sample processing once the sample arrives at the lab. Rush fee results are typically available within 5-7 business days from the received date.
