DNA CONNEXIONS APOLIPOPROTEIN E (APOE) GENOTYPING TEST

The DNA ConneXions ApoE Genotyping Test identifies an individual’s overall ability to detoxify mercury and other heavy metals, as well as identifying your overall genetic propensity to develop Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurological conditions.

  • Determines your specific ApoE genotype
  • Provides insights into your body’s ability to detoxify heavy metals and your risk for Alzheimer’s Disease
  • At-home test with easy Super Floss collection method
  • Understand your genetic profile and take proactive steps for your health

Please Note: It is important to understand that while ApoE4 is the most detrimental variant, detection of one or two ApoE4 genotype variants does not guarantee or diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease or other neurological conditions.  However, it does significantly increase the risk of developing the condition. Understanding this information will empower you to make informed decisions to minimize exposure to heavy metals and avoid high-risk activities linked to neurodegenerative conditions.

Patients should seek a consultation with a qualified physician or specialist if they possess a high-risk genotype.

Sampling Method: Super Floss

Please Note: If selecting combination testing, both samples need to be returned together.

Key Features:

  • Determines your specific ApoE genotype (of the six possible)
  • Health Impact: Provides insights into your body’s ability to detoxify heavy metals and your risk for Alzheimer’s Disease and other conditions
  • Non-Invasive Sampling: Sampling for this test is performed with a simple, non-invasive dental Super Floss in the comfort of your own home

How It Works: The test involves using dental Super Floss to collect an oral sample. This sample is then analyzed to provide valuable information about your genetic predispositions.

ApoE Genotypes: Everyone has two copies of the ApoE gene, which determines your ApoE “genotype” (e.g., E2/E2, E2/E3, E2/E4, E3/E3, E3/E4, E4/E4). This genotypic test helps understand your ability to detoxify mercury and your propensity to develop certain health conditions.

About Apolipoprotein E (ApoE): Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is a class of proteins involved in the metabolism of fats in the body. It plays a key role in transporting lipoproteins, fat-soluble vitamins, and cholesterol into the lymph system and then into the bloodstream. ApoE is synthesized mainly in the liver but is also found in the brain, kidneys, and spleen.

ApoE and Health:

  • Brain and Cognitive Health: The ApoE protein has been significantly linked to a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s Disease and cognitive development. The ApoE4 genetic variant is associated with brain atrophy, Alzheimer’s Disease, cardiovascular disease, poor immune response, and increased cholesterol levels
  • Mercury Removal: The ApoE protein also plays a role in the removal of mercury and other havy metals from the body. The optimal genotype for removing mercury is ApoE 2/2, while ApoE 3/3 is the most common, and ApoE 4/4 is the least effective

Benefits:

  • Personalized Health Insights: Provides detailed information about your genetic makeup
  • Convenient: Perform the test at home without needing a doctor’s visit
  • Early Detection: Helps you understand your genetic risk factors early

Please Note: It is important to understand that while ApoE4 is the most detrimental variant, detection of one or two ApoE4 genotype variants does not guarantee or diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease or other neurological conditions.  However, it does significantly increase the risk of developing the condition. Understanding this information will empower you to make informed decisions to minimize exposure to heavy metals and avoid high-risk activities linked to neurodegenerative conditions.

Patients should seek a consultation with a qualified physician or specialist if they possess a high-risk genotype.
